Peter Lehmann, “Clancy’s”, Barossa, 2002 ($16) – A blend of 54% Shiraz, 29% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc. Garnet color, bell pepper and eucalyptus aromas are more like Cabernet Sauvignon, but there is an undercurrent of plum from the Shiraz, nicely balanced plum fruit with bell pepper flavors and soft tannins. Very good now and will maintain for 2-3 more years in the cellar. An unexpected pleasure. Score: 8.5/10.
Just finished my tasting for the Syrah show and the Crozes Hermitage was corked. Since this is my 20th show and the wines of the Northern Rhone define the Syrah grape, I will be picking up another bottle tomorrow and recording the podcast. On a good note, I had 2 awesome Syrah’s from California and Australia that both rated 9 of 10 points!
Recent visitors might have noticed two new podcast feed buttons that have shown up on the right menu over the past couple of days. As I prepare to launch Winecast 2.0, there are a few improvements such as this that you will see popping up on the site. I decided to add these options for those who would prefer smaller file sizes than the mp3 version and platform-specific features such as aac’s bookmarks.
The “wma” feed is for players that support Windows Media Audio format and the “aac” feed is for Apple’s iPod (my favorite player). Each picks up the feed at Winecast 14 foreword.
