Since my host moved this website to another server some 6 weeks ago, I have not been able to access stats or my databases to make back-ups. Since this has been a pretty busy time for me, I ignored this until earlier this week; big mistake. Sometime overnight, my main MySQL database was overwritten to restore my stats and other control panel services at the expense of deleting the past month plus of data. Since I don’t keep local copies of many of the posts, most of the content will be lost to history. Over the next few days, I will see what can be found in search engine caches to recreate as much as possible here and I will be reposting the lost podcasts shortly (which I do keep local copies of).
I’m back to my weekly database backup routine to prevent this from happening in the future… sorry for the interruption.
UPDATE: My new best friend is the Google cache, which will reclaim all the posts from the past month. A lot of cutting and pasting, but in a while all will be back in place content-wise. All the comments and trackbacks will be lost, however 🙁
UPDATE 2: All the posts have been restored, more or less. My apologies to those who subscribe to the blog with aggregators who will see six weeks of posts again. There might be some duplicate downloads of the past two podcasts, as well. I’ve tried to line up the posts in the correct order, so old incoming links should still work… now back to normal operations.
