In the latest wine marketing experiment, Beringer is launching White Lie Early Season Chardonnay, a low alcohol wine aimed at women. I’m not sure if this is a good thing or not, but it should appeal to those who don’t like German Riesling for some odd reason 😉
Low-alcohol? What the hell’s the point of that? Yuck, I’m a female and I like real wine! With flavor!
It was fun meeting at the Scoble pub crawl… then I saw you mentioned in the Saint Paul paper this AM. Congratulations on a very good podcast.
Kim,
Good to see you at the geek meetup with Scoble, too. Did you blog on this like most of us did? I’ve just posted about the PP story, BTW.
Cheers!
Elle, there’s no such a thing as a real wine or a false wine. Quality and flavor of a wine is never defined by the amount of alcohol it contains. A top Bordeaux has a mere 12~13% alcohol as compared to some Zinfandels which are as high as 16%.
An 8% alc. Riesling from a reliable and consistent producer for example can be extremely flavorful and pure and drunk by the most mancho of men.
